American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM)
Robert Cain, DO is serving a two-year term as FASHP president. Dr. Cain is the President and CEO of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM). The Association represents 44 osteopathic medical schools with 71 teaching sites in 36 states. Today, almost 30 percent of U.S. medical students are earning the DO degree. As AACOM president and CEO, he represents osteopathic medical education in a variety of settings while overseeing the operations of the Association that supports the nation’s colleges of osteopathic medicine and graduate medical education leaders.
Dr. Cain is a 1988 graduate of the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was certified in both internal medicine and pulmonary medicine and operated a private practice in Dayton, Ohio from 1994-2008 before becoming involved in academic leadership.

Dr. Karen Pierce West received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Louisville. She completed both a General Practice Residency and received a MPH degree in Health Administration. Dr. West has a Certificate in Medical Management from the University of Kentucky Gatton College of Business and Economics and was a Fellow in the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine Program.
Dr. West was in private practice in Kentucky then taught in the Community Dentistry Department and was the Director of the Children and Youth Dental Clinic at the Medical College of Georgia. She was also a faculty member at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, serving in multiple administrative capacities. Dr. West became Dean at the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine in 2007 and served until June 30, 2019.
July 1, 2019, Dr. West became the President and CEO of the American Dental Education Association. She has served as Chair for both the ADEA Council of Faculties and the Council of Deans. Dr. West is a Past Chair of the Commission on Dental Accreditation and has served as a consultant for international accrediting bodies. In 2018, Dr. West received the ADEA Distinguished Service Award.

Anne Marie Munson, MA

Anne Marie Munson brings two decades of executive leadership experience in organizational management, strategic planning, and business development to her role as Executive Director of the Association of Chiropractic Colleges (ACC). Since 2013, she has been advancing the chiropractic profession, first as Senior Vice President of Operations at the American Chiropractic Association, and in 2022, joined ACC to lead the organization's work in strengthening chiropractic education nationwide.
Ms. Munson's experience spans nonprofit leadership and private sector work. Prior to joining ACA, she worked in senior management roles for various associations and managed strategic planning for a higher education software development company, where she developed her skills in turning vision into practical results. She holds an MA in cultural anthropology from George Mason University, where she has also taught as an adjunct professor. This background gives her a unique perspective on organizational culture and stakeholder engagement.
Throughout her career, Ms. Munson has built her reputation on connecting diverse groups, leading strategic initiatives, and helping organizations grow and adapt in changing healthcare environments.

Dawn M. Mancuso, MAM, CAE, FASAE

Dawn Mancuso is the Executive Director of the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO).
After initially working in the communications field, Ms. Mancuso has been a non-profit manager for over 30 years. Prior to working for ASCO, she served as the CEO of the Hydrocephalus Association and the Association of Air Medical Services and its supporting foundation, the MedEvac Foundation International.
She has an undergraduate degree in International Relations from Georgetown University and a Master’s Degree in Association Management from George Washington University.
She is a frequent presenter at association management conferences, and has been published in magazines such as Association, Executive Update, and other non-profit management publications. She is a past board member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and is the co-author of one of the chapters of Professional Practices in Association Management, the closest thing to a textbook for those in the association management profession. She also worked with Jim Collins (author of Good to Great) as part of the research team and one of the research authors of the book, 7 Measures of Success: What Remarkable Associations Do that Others Don’t, published in 2006.
Ms. Mancuso earned the CAE (Certified Association Executive) designation from ASAE in 1991, and was named a Fellow of ASAE in March of 2001.
In her spare time, she serves on the board of directors of PAL (People-Animals-Love), a community non-profit dedicated to advancing the human-animal bond.
